Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi has a huge set, capturing the old world Kamathipura. The makers who are still paying daily rent to Film City to keep their set on the ground has finally decided to deconstruct the set for now as there’s no clarity on when filming will begin again. The makers have lost two crores because of lockdown and there is no surety whether the shoot will resume by September-October. By the time monsoons will hit the set bad and will get destroyed. So makers decided paying regular rent is not feasible in present scenario. It will cost around 13 crores to build this huge set again. It would be a smaller loss compared to if they continued to keep this set. Gangubai Kathiawadi is a said to be a story based on the infamous lady don and courtesan of the same name who ruled Mumbai city in the 60s.
