Actress-politician Khushbu Sundar, the South Indian actress predominantly working in Tamil Film Industry found herself in the middle of controversy after her private voice message to a WhatsApp group consisting of television producers found its way to the media.
Khushbu, along with several small screen technicians, has been holding meetings with the Tamil Nadu government regarding the serial shoots. After 70 days, many television serials resumed shoot yesterday. On the WhatsApp group, she sent a voice note requesting producers not to allow any media on the serial sets. She said, “Make sure you don’t give them a chance to take photos or videos. They are waiting to rip us apart. The press people do not have any news other the Covid-19 right now. So, they would be waiting to publish something about us once shooting resumes. So, please take care.”
The leaked voice note did not go down well with the media as she disrespected the press in it. Hours after the voice message found its way to the internet, Khushbu took to Twitter to defend herself. After the voice note went viral, Khushbu wrote, “My voice message, an edited version, regarding the press is making rounds. It has gone from our producers’ group n I am ashamed to say we have such cheap minds among us. My intentions were clear n not meant to disrespect the press. It’s a tone you speak within friends”.
She further revealed that she has never disrespected media in her career spanning 34 years. “My respect for the press is for all to see and journalists can vouch for that. Not even once in my 34yrs of cinema they would have ever seen or heard me speaking to them nor about them in disrespect. The voice message is half. But my sincere apologies if I have hurt any of you,” her tweet read.
Her post read, “Very unfortunately you realize those who you work for are the ones who try and stab you behind your back. I know which producer has done this..but i shall not name them. My silence and forgiveness is their biggest punishment. There is lot more to be done and I shall continue”, expressed her disappointment that someone from her own team who had betrayed her.
