‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ becomes the first Malayalam movie to release on OTT amid the coronavirus scare.
Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House has taken a historic decision with respect to Malayalam industry.As per the sources ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ will be the first Malayalam film, releasing directly on Amazon Prime. The news regarding the OTT release was announded by Vijay Babu through his official social media handle. Release date is expected to be announced shortly.
‘Sufiyum Sujatha’ is a musical love story that stars Jayasurya and Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. The movie is written and directed by Naranipuzha Shanavas of Karie fame. An interesting fact about the movie is that, Shanavas is the twelfth director to be introduced by Friday Film House.
Aditi Rao Hydari will be essaying the role of Kathak dancer in Sufiyum Sujathayum. The film marks the return of Aditi Rao Hydari to Malayalam films after her debut in 2006’s film Prajapathi. Sufiyum Sujathayum, is reported to be an intense love story that travels through time. The makers recently resumed the post-production of the Jayasurya and Aditi Rao Hydari starrer.
Aditi Rao Hydari, who has an array of films in her kitty, was expected to return to Malayalam films with Naranipuzha Shanavas’ Sufiyum Sujathayum. But due to the Coronavirus enforced lockdown, the movie was pushed indefinitely.
‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’ has Siddique, Hareesh Kanaran, Vijay Babu, Mamukkoya, Manikandan Pattambi, Kalaranjini and ‘Thamaasha’ fame Navas Vallikkunnu in supporting roles. The camera will be panned by Anu Moothedath and editing will be done by Deepu Joseph. M Jayachandran is composing music for this film.
